Interesting. I was reading though a Walking Dead thread discussing whether Carol should teach the children of their group to use knives to defend themselves. Surprisingly nearly all comments were in favor of them learning to defend themselves. I am 100% behind it…sure allow the kids to play and read and use their imaginations, but they also need to know how to defend themselves in a situation that could get them hurt or killed…we are talking zombies here.
In all honesty, the same thought process could be used today. I’m not saying to arm our children but teaching them some self defense, vital areas to strike etc and the proper time in which to use their knowledge wouldn’t be a bad thing. However, in the world we live in today…most people would not agree with me. The children must be sheltered from the horrible things in this world, thus making them even bigger targets to the terrors.
It is so disappointing to see the celebrities that people “idolize” today. What have they done for us…for our country? Not speaking to all, but a good majority of them? NOTHING. Not a damn thing other than making a film, music, television show, playing a game etc that people like.
Back when my mom was young they had influential celebrities to idolize. One in particular was Nichelle Nichols, Lt. Uhura on Star Trek: TOS. Not only was she a woman 4th in line to command the Enterprise, but she was a black woman. A role model to women of all colors, as well as, I can surmise black men of the time. She broke the mold when it came to style and class. But not only was Ms Nichols a role model in the field of acting, but she went on to, and continues to, have a very strong voice in the NASA space program/National Space Society.
Want to know some of what is wrong with today’s youth? They no longer have role models such as this to look up to and to strive to be like. We need better role models for our children and it starts with US not ‘idolizing’ those who do NOTHING.
Per my goal of sticking to my DDP Yoga workout program I did day 1 of week 2 tonight before heading to bed. I was sweating like a pig (both due to heat and lack of physical fitness) but I feel food that I stick with it and did it! ENERGY was my bitch…well, at least I did my best. BANG!
Tomorrow 5am…another day of DDP Yoga! BANG! I WILL succeed!
